  • Biography:
Cris Pollard is the Lead HPB Nurse Specialist with overall responsibility for management of the nursing team covering the clinical and research aspects of benign and malignant conditions and also has a responsibility for the innovation of new processes to enhance the nursing service.

Cris has a special interest in patients with chronic pancreatitis and has developed a CNS led MDT assessment service for patients being considered for pancreatectomy and auto islet transplantation which forms the basis of her ongoing PhD. Cris has presented and published widely in this area and her assessment process is internationally accepted as the “gold standard”. Cris has also had a longstanding interest in ensuring that the support and information given to patients is appropriate, compassionately delivered and effective. To investigate these problem areas Cris has conducted a number of audits which have also resulted in a number of peer reviewed publications supporting the role of the Specialist Nurse and the value of formalised information delivery. She has also organised a number of charity HPB team bike rides to help raise research money to enable the HPB unit to continue funding ongoing research studies.
