About Ampullary Cancers

Ampullary cancers are cancers of the ampulla of vater (a ring of muscle at the bottom of the bile duct within the duodenum). They usually present with jaundice as the main symptom. Surgical treatment of ampullary cancers is the same as for treatment for pancreatic cancers. However, the survival is significantly better with a median survival of 62 months following surgery.
